Philosophy
Domaine de la Combe is located in Saint-Fiacre close to the confluence of the Sèvre and the Maine, which lead a little further into the Loire (South-Eastern of Nantes). The domain was founded by the grandfather of Nelly Marzelleau in the 1950s. Saint-Fiacre is in the heart of the appellation. The presence of a lot of slate in the soil makes it the ideal region for growing the famous 'Melon de Bourgogne' or better known as 'Muscadet de Sèvre et Main', not to be confused with the often sweet 'Muscat'! The Muscadets here belong to the absolute top of the Loire and have a unique pure and refined character. Their structure is unparalleled and is nothing like the sour, sour wines from the supermarket. These are top wines with their well-known 'Crispy' character and a great, almost creamy finish. In the kitchen it has also been the classic companion to oysters for years, but it is certainly not limited to that. Domaine de la Combe gives Muscadet back its rightful status as one of the iconic wines of France and one of the most unique wines in the world!
