Château Lafon-Rochet - Bordeaux Collection (Kwestie van Smaak)

Château Lafon-Rochet logo

The domain was built in 1650 by Pierre de Lafon who had received the grounds (known as the land of Rochette) as his wife's dowry. During all this time, little or nothing changed in the size and accommodation of Lafon-Rochet and it completely fell into disrepair. When Guy Tesseron bought it in 1959, the domain was completely renewed. The size of the vineyards were also doubled and completely replanted, since the Cabernet was in clay and the Merlot was cultivated on gravel grounds. Even the building had to be completely rebuilt, making Lafon-Rochet the only Château in Bordeaux that was built in the 20th century, with a classification of 1855. Systematic renovations have been carried out regularly to this day, so that Lafon-Rochet now fully responds to the strict qualitative requirements of a top appellation such as Saint-Estèphe.
